Event – August 5th, 2020
For this 3rd edition of the focal point cafe, DCHI will present a condensed snapshot of how to approach innovative processes for humanitarian aid linked to Energy needs. Together with our partners such as the GPA, we will let you discover the value of renewable energy and clean cooking, a market-based approach, and collaborations for a transformation of humanitarian work.
We empower the innovator in you
During this session, Marriët Schuurman, Director Stabilisation and Humanitarian Aid at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will launch the Humanitarian Accelerator Programme on Access to Modern Energy. This programme enables innovation and collaboration for humanitarian organisations, for energy experts from the private sector and development organisations, as well as for potential supporters and investors.
In addition, the DCHI Focal Point Café will be attended by key figures from the humanitarian energy field. Those include H.R.H. Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, Senior Advisor, Private Sector Partnerships, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), who will introduce the global Clean Energy Challenge of UNHCR.

Access to Modern Energy is increasingly recognized as an area of humanitarian concern. If communities affected by crises go without proper access to energy, it becomes impossible for them to meet the basic needs of life. In fact, if humanitarian organisations do not adequately address access to energy in their programmes, they risk contributing to the very same problems they aim to solve.
DCHI is very excited to announce that we will be hosting regular Focal Point Café meetings in 2020 as our newest networking opportunity within the Humanitarian Innovation Sector! We will host regular meet-ups that will offer the perfect opportunity to network in a casual-setting, whilst having the opportunity to hear about humanitarian innovation cases and relevant themes, as well as exploring best practices and lessons learnt from various organisations.
